Potential Traffic Disruptions During Bridge Works

Drivers in the Omemee area should prepare for significant traffic disruptions as the King Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project begins on October 8, 2025. The City of Kawartha Lakes has announced that the essential work will include replacement of expansion joints, waterproofing, repaving, and concrete repairs to the bridge deck and surrounding structures. While westbound traffic will be maintained, eastbound vehicles will be detoured via Mill Pond Bridge using Sturgeon Street South, Mary Street, and Hughes Street South. Due to narrow lane widths, large trucks will be rerouted along alternative paths. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays throughout the duration of the project.
